Herbal Syrup Make Along
Herbal syrups are a great way to make herbal remedies taste delicious, but also to make great cocktails and sodas. In this class we'll make two different types of herbal syrups together, using two extraction methods. We'll also learn different herbs that pair well with syrups, what their benefits are how to use syrups, how long they stay good in the fridge, and some troubleshooting.

This is a live, virtual make along class, which means you will be tuning in on zoom from your kitchen with the ingredients ready. From my kitchen, I'll walk you through making two different syrups together in class.

The first syrup we will make is a hibiscus ginger syrup, and the second will be a Douglas fir tip syrup (or other, see choices below). If you are having trouble finding the ingredients, get in contact and I can help you find a substitute or recommend a place to get them.

ZOOM CLASSES

Due to COVID-19, I am currently offering live virtual classes. We can interact just as in a real classroom (with audio and video), but without the danger of spreading COVID. So far, people are loving the new possibility of tuning in from home.

How to join the zoom call:

I will send you a link to the scheduled conference call to the email you provide at registration. When it's time for class, you will follow that link and join the call. I prefer that all students join with both video and audio, as I like to teach interactive classes. The call will start 10 minutes prior to the start of class so we can get settled in and technical difficulties worked out.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Natalie runs the Adiantum School of Plant Medicine, a local herb school in Seattle, where she teaches classes on plant ID, medicine making, and holistic herbalism. She has spent several years acquiring and synthesizing knowledge about Western Herbalism, PNW Materia Medica, nutrition, and Chinese Medicine. She is particularly passionate about traditional assessment techniques, the effects of emotions on the physical body, and holistic models of understanding imbalance. She also loves to forage and grow medicinal plants of all kinds, because cultivating a direct relationship with the living plant is not only educational but very healing. All in all, she is an empiricist at heart who loves experimentation and exploration into the possibilities of nourishing and strengthening our bodies and souls. As a teacher, Natalie is flexible, engaging and multi-sensory. She has extensive teaching experience, and is always looking for ways to keep things fresh and exciting. So far during COVID, she has taught 15 virtual classes and counting!
