Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk (July)
Summer is here! Berries are beginning to ripen, seeds are maturing and the sun is out. Join us for this two hour immersive walk in Discovery Park, where we will learn identification, harvest and use of the edible and Medicinal Plants we encounter.
We will see the last of the ripe indian plums, the immature hawthorn berries beginning to form, ripe trailing blackberries, mountain ash berries, oregon grape berries, nettle seeds and more.
Natalie is a local herbalist and forager that runs the Adiantum School of Plant Medicine. Though she is an herbalist by trade, she teaches about all things plants, and loves to cook with wild foods. Her classes are exciting, participatory and multi-sensory.
NOTE: Harvesting is forbidden in Seattle Parks. We will not be harvesting anything on this walk, and I ask participants to respect this rule.
MEETING SPOT: We will meet at the South Parking lot of Discovery Park. (https://goo.gl/maps/agD69wdcCYK2) There are benches on the east side of the parking lot where we will gather up before we set off. Please show up on time so you don't get left behind!
WHEN: Sunday, July 8, 3-5pm WHERE: Discovery Park South Parking lot TEACHER: Natalie MAX CAP: 16 students
