Shortbus Screening & Meet Actor, Peter Stickles

Join us Monday, November 13th from 7:30-10:00pm for this very special screening of "SHORTBUS" with Special Guest, Actor, Peter Stickles and Host/Q&A Moderator, Charlie Vaughn!

"SHORTBUS" is Writer/Director, John Cameron Mitchell's followup film to the wildly successful HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Over 500 audition tapes were submitted, 40 people were called in to improv auditions and nine actors were cast. The script was then developed over 2.5 years of improv workshops with the cast.

Storyline

Numerous New York City dwellers come to the exclusive club Shortbus to work out problems in their sexual relationships. Rob and Sophia are a happily married couple, except for the fact that she has never experienced sexual climax. This irony follows her to work because she is a couples counselor who frequently has to deal with the sexual issues other couples have. Two of her patients are Jamie and James, a gay couple who have been monogamous for five years and counting. James wants to bring other men in to the relationship, and his own history with depression may hint at an ulterior motive. Ceth (pronounced Seth) may be the perfect addition to their family, but Caleb, a voyeur from across the street, may have his own ideas about that. Sophia visits Severin, a dominatrix with secrets of her own to reveal.

Released in 2006 "SHORTBUS" is an American erotic comedy-drama film. The plot revolves around a sexually diverse ensemble of colorful characters trying desperately to connect in New York City. The characters converge in a weekly Brooklyn artistic/sexual salon loosely inspired by various underground NYC gatherings that took place in the early 2000s. According to Mitchell, the film attempts to "employ sex in new cinematic ways because it's too interesting to leave to porn."
