We live in a rapidly changing world. On any given day there are new stories emerging about conflicts that arise from our inability to bridge our differences. Every day, our country and our city become more diverse. As clinicians, we are asked to provide services to an increasingly diverse clientele, often with little training formal training in serving clients who are not like us.
This training is designed to provide a foundation for building culturally competent programs. It is designed to enable clinicians to examine their own current strategies for addressing cultural differences and to help them to develop an intercultural worldview and a multicultural practice. Training participants will be introduced to the Stages of Intercultural Development and Monocultural Worldviews. With guiding, participants will identify strategies for promoting their own intercultural growth and exploring the first steps toward providing effective treatment across cultures.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
Name and describe five developmental stages of intercultural competence,
Differentiate between a monocultural worldview and an intercultural worldview,
Understand the limits of minimizing cultural differences when providing treatment,
Learn strategies for moving forward in their own intercultural competence, and
Identify steps they can take to provide culturally competent treatment to clients.

Daniel Jass, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Designated Mental Health Professional for Clark County. He has extensive experience in community mental health, at a residential treatment facility for gang-affiliated teens, and as a crisis evaluator. In addition, Dan is a certified intercultural coach and is the lead consultant for iD8 Consulting (iD8consulting.com), an intercultural consulting company providing training for schools, community-based providers, and government agencies.

Please notify CDTC if you are unable to attend training.
Refund: A refund of the registration cost, not any associated fees, may be given only when notification is given at least 3 days
prior to the training. Notification under 3 days will follow the credit
agreement.
Credit: If notification is given within 1 week after the training, a credit will be
given for the next training only.
If CDTC cancels training, registration fees will be refunded in full.
Lunch:There is a one hour lunch break on your own. There is a large cafeteria at the hospital in addition to a smaller cafe and coffee shop with pre-made meals available. Several lunch options are available to the East, past I-205. It is recommended that you check google maps to check for lunch options including Sweet Tomatoes, Chuck's Produce, or fast food restaurants such as Arby's, Taco Bell or Burgerville.
