Art Therapy Group for Helpers and Healers January 2025

If you are a therapist or work in any helping or healing profession, you are invited to join art therapists Lesley Burke LPC, ATR and Alyssa Gursky LPC for an evening of art making for the purpose of processing feelings and connecting in community with others doing similar work.

This group will focus on mixed media art processes, and various types of art materials will be available, including collage materials, paper, scissors, paint, canvas, decorative and craft supplies, glue, etc. Our group will begin with introductions and a grounding exercise as a group, followed by participants settling into their art stations for 90 minutes of art making. There will be some periods of quiet time but we will play music and connecting/chatting with other participants is welcome. Materials are provided, and we will provide some demonstrations but this is an art therapy process group and not an art class, and there is no wrong way to do it! This is a judgment-free, criticism-free space. The group will finish with a closing circle, optional sharing, and cleaning up together. We will end by 8:30pm.

Since this is an art therapy group, all conversations that happen in the group must remain confidential.

This month we will be using our 2 rooms across the hall from each other, so we can spread out and have more space to work. The maximum number of participants is 8, and we will have 4 art stations in each room and the participant to facilitator ratio is 4:1.

The address is 6118 SE Belmont, suites 321 and 326. There is free parking in the neighborhood, but please do not park in the parking lot attached to the building. There is a drop off area at the front door, and an elevator to the 3rd floor. There is a small bathroom in our suite and an accessible bathroom on the 4th floor which can be accessed by elevator. The building is on the #15 bus line.
