Paulie Cerra's 2nd Annual Hometown Throwdown at The Palace Theatre

Syracuse native, Paulie Cerra has been touring the world for the last four years as Joe Bonamassa's saxophonist and one of his featured vocalists. He will be rolling into Syracuse for his 2nd Annual Hometown Throwdown.

Included in the show will be members of his Los Angeles based band and several Syracusans including Chittenango native, drummer David Northrup and local phenom Lil Georgie aka George Rossi. Opening the show will be CNY favs The Ripcords!

Last year's inaugural Throwdown was a fantastic and memorable event that was highlighted by many guest appearances by some of Syracuse's finest musicians. This year promises to be no different.

Paulie, who now calls LA home, has been touring and recording with a long roster of artists including Joe Bonamassa, Larry Carlton, Ricki Lee Jones, Lionel Richie and Beth Hart to name a few. Bonamassa's fans have been discovering that the saxman has much more to offer than just a soulful, rocking sax sound. Having been a featured artist on Bonamassa's KTBA at Sea Cruise has showcased Paulie as a formidable singer, songwriter and recording artist in his own right. Comparisons to Ray Charles are often thrown his way. With a heavy blues background, Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Keb 'Mo, Lucky Peterson and Jimmy Johnson are just a small part of a very long list artists who have employed Cerra's talents. His shows stretch boundaries and cross genres with the singular goal of sharing the love for his bandmates and the music they present with every person in the house. Last year's attendees can vouch, this will be a lovefest!

Members of his LA based band include Sam Meek on guitar and Billy Haynes on bass and vocals. These two are incredibly versatile musicians who rise to any musical situation that may be presented. They're funky, soulful, swinging and armed with a love for each other and the music they play that is palpable and infectious.

David Northrup returns home from Nashville to man the drum chair again. An in demand session and sideman for artists as varied as Boz Skaggs, The Oakridge Boys, Travis Tritt and Les Dudek has proven David's worth as a truly versatile drummer. The Chittenango High School grad has called Nashville home for the last 25 years.

George Rossi is CNY's preeminent master of the piano and three ring circus leader of the famed Lil Georgie and the Shufflin' Hungarians. With a track record a mile long, you'd be better off naming artists he hasn't played with in CNY. Having honed his piano playing locally, George relocated to New Orleans to delve deeper into the roots of New Orleans piano traditions. He is in the process of recording a new batch of tunes with the Hungarians.

Local blues fans will be treated to a fantastic opening show by The Ripcords. They will bring their rocking sound and original tunes to kick the night off right!
