Paperie Workshop Series

September is all about the arts with Lancaster Transplant. We are collaborating with Annie at Sunshine Art + Design for a 3-part Paperie Workshop Series. ARRRRRT feels soooo good, especially when you are reducing junk-mail to a pulp, transforming cardboard into a book cover, and diving into a mess of supplies and writing prompts to express yourself! Join us for the whole darn Paperie series or sign up for one or two individual classes as you wish.

Classes will be held at Sunshine Art + Design, 104 West King Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 for 3 consecutive Tuesdays in September, as follows:

"Part 1: Papermaking"
Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 6:30-8:30pm

Bring junk mail, tiny scraps of colorful paper, tissue paper, whatever you have lying around will do! We will walk through the process of basic papermaking together, crafting the signatures for part 2 of this series, "Bookbinding."

"Part 2: Bookbinding"
Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 6:30-8:30pm

Using hand-made paper from "Pt. 1," or whatever paper you so choose, we will walk through three basic book-binding techniques, from simple to moderately difficult. This hand-made journal will be the basis for the "Part 3" workshop, or would make a lovely gift to yourself or a friend.

"Part 3: Visual Journaling"
Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6:30-8:30pm

This workshop is not just for artists! Visual Journaling integrates visual and literal communication to express yo-self in new and inspired ways. Surrounded by a plethora of art-making materials, from pastels to paint to collaging stuff, we are teaming up with Triangle, a literary organization, to communicate creatively, playfully and meaningfully through journal entries, for your eyes only or to share and inspire!
