Social Media Basics for Small Farm Business
Are you running a small farm business and questioning how to best utilize social media? Frustrated with the constant changes with Facebook business and confused on what exactly the difference is between Instagram posts and stories and how to best use them? You are not alone. Join us for our next online Dirt Talk event with Social Media & Digital Strategy Specialist, Abbey Loos. She will be giving an overview of the basic social media platforms, how to best utilize them for your farm business and have an open discussion with questions from our farmer audience.
This session will be about mastering the basics of social media and covering topics such as:
- Social media landscape overview (answering the when and why of using each platform)
- Basic overview on FB/IG functionality (How to cross-post on both platforms, use of Hootsuite & other social media management tools, scheduling posts using stories, reels)
- Social media best practices (What type of content drives engagement, how to drive sales and brand awareness with your social media, and more!)
- Q&A from farmers

What is Dirt Talk? Dirt Talk is hosted by WSU Regional Small Farms in conjunction with a local farmer or specialist willing to share their expertise in a given topic. Events are held in a supportive yet informal atmosphere, that allows participants to share, exchange perspectives, and learn from each other without pressure. Events are open to all new and current farmers!
More about Abbey Loos: Abbey has been helping large Fortune 500 companies and small businesses launch and grow their marketing efforts for 7+ years. She loves teaching others how to best reach and engage their audience to drive the results they're looking for. In addition to marketing, she is passionate about agriculture, agrotourism, yoga and traveling. She is currently building Seaforest Farm, a small farm and eco-resort on the North Olympic Peninsula with her partner.
