Suzanne Dee Trio with Don Wilkins
Suzanne Dee (Gorman) will visit The Living Room with her trio, including Jeff Twardzik and Vince James. Suzanne is a Nashville singer, songwriter and recording artist in the adult contemporary and country genres. Don Wilkins will open the show.
About Suzanne:
Suzanne's music has both pop and country appeal, with the same caliber of talent as top artist Shania Twain. She is a Nashville recording artist who writes her own music with her first nationally distributed CD "Open Book," which highlights both her vocals abilities and her writing.
Suzanne's father and brothers' love for music influenced her to enjoy all types of music. At age 7 she climbed onto her first horse and that is when her passion for horses began. Her training and dreams involved one day qualifying for the Olympics in Dressage. In 1996 Suzanne suffered a serious surgical neck injury. With this new battle to overcome she looked to learning to play the guitar as part of her therapy. As time passed the guitar has not only proven itself as a recovery tool but also has inspired a new musical awakening within her. Music has a way of healing any broken heart as Suzanne found out.
This impressive artist has also been able to give back to the community with her uplifting spirit and songs. Suzanne started a foundation, called Christians Night Live, which has raised more than $450,000 since 2002 for Muscular Dystrophy treatment.
On this impressive debut CD "Open Book," recorded with top sidemen at Reba McEntire's Starstruck Studios, she makes it clear that a broad background, a history of battling down challenges, and a commitment to sharing her gift with the world can only enhance a talent thats already unique.
She wants the public to know that with a strong love for life and the will to fight, the mind and heart can become powerful through a long, challenging journey. She loves people and wants to give back in equal measure of what she has received. Every moment in life that she shares her music, she feels like she is in the right place at the right time.

About Don:
Don (Donny to his fans) has been playing and writing music professionally for more than 50 years. After college, he moved to New York to pursue a music career. Playing the showcase venues like The Bitter End, Café Wha?, and Folk City, he attracted attention from all the major record labels and eventually signed with Dick James Music (Elton John's manager and publisher) because of the company's commitment to songwriters. He was featured in the Dick James catalogue, recording more than 100 songs for the company.
In the mid-'70s, Don joined a pop fusion band called City Lights, taking the place of legendary blues guitarist Danny Kalb (The Blues Project) who had sustained a career-ending injury. After a lengthy road tour, the group showcased Don's songs at CBGB in New York, landing them a record deal with Sire Records, along with other new wave bands such as The Ramones and Talking Heads. City Lights' Grammy-nominated album "Silent Dancing," featuring many of Don's songs, was received with critical acclaim and major airplay.
Following Don's association with City Lights, he moved to Hollywood and blossomed as a writer, contributing songs to many local bands, performing many of them at famous showcases like The Palomino and The Troubadour. During this time, Don also was in demand as a studio session player and touring sideman for many artists, including Andrew Gold, Karla Bonoff, and Warren Zevon. It was during this period that Don began a successful career as a musical director for many young songwriters, including A&M Records artist Shandi Cinnamon.
In 1983, Don returned to his roots on the Main Line of Philadelphia to marry, raise a family, and to become a partner in a successful real estate investment firm. However, he never stopped playing and writing music as an avocation. He has led a renowned wedding and party cover band for almost 30 years, and in 2014 he released "Long Road Home," an album of original songs on Air Records. Currently Don is working on his second album full of songs written in his compelling lyrical style and accessible genres spanning R&B, country rock, pop and jazz.
