Nashville Hits Presents; Saturday Stories and Songs, Chris Wallin, Gary Burr, Roger Cook
CHRIS WALLIN:  With his unique gift for finding the extraordinary in ordinary life, Chris Wallin has established himself as one of Nashville's most sought-after songwriters.

For years, Wallin has topped the charts with classics-in-the-making for the industry's biggest stars: Love Me If You Can by Toby Keith, "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney, People Loving People by Garth Brooks, Im Tryin for Trace Adkins, Something To Be Proud Of and Speed by Montgomery Gentry and many more.

Wallin has worked hard to achieve his place on the A List of Nashville songwriters, and doesn't take his status for granted: Chris says  Back then I used to buy 50 or so McDonald's 29 cent hamburgers a week and freeze them solid. I could eat all week on $15  They werent bad, except the last few get a little crusty from freezer burn.

Artists who have cut Chriss songs include Lorrie Morgan, Garth Brooks, Montgomery Gentry, Sammy Kershaw, Tommy Shane Steiner, Trace Adkins, Michael Peterson, Anthony Smith, Jeffrey Steele, Confederate Railroad, Neal McCoy, Brian McComas, Brad Paisley, Joe Diffie, Diamond Rio, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and many many more.

GARY BURR:  As a struggling musician in Connecticut, Gary Burr caught a break in 1982 by writing Juice Newtons country-pop crossover hit Loves Been a Little Bit Hard on Me. He moved to Nashville in 1989, and soon became one of the citys most successful songwriters. In 2005, Burr earned membership in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame for credits including Thats My Job (Conway Twitty), One Night a Day (Garth Brooks), I Try to Think about Elvis (Patty Loveless), Till You Love Me (Reba McEntire), What Mattered Most (Ty Herndon), Cant Be Really Gone (Tim McGraw), To Be Loved by You (Wynonna), Before Your Love (Kelly Clarkson), and This Is the Night (Clay Aiken).

ROGER COOK:  is an English singer, songwriter and record producer, who has written many hit records for other recording artists. He has also had a successful recording career in his own right.

He is best known for his collaborations with Roger Greenaway. Cook's co-compositions have included "You've Got Your Troubles", and the transatlantic million selling songs, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress". They were the first UK songwriting partnership to be granted an Ivor Novello Award as 'Songwriters of the Year' in two successive years.

In 1997, Cook became the first and so far only British songwriter to enter the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame

In 1975 Cook moved to the US and settled in Nashville, Tennessee, where he produced more hits including "Talking in Your Sleep" (Crystal Gayle in 1978, first recorded by Marmalade) and "Love Is on a Roll" (Don Williams).  In 1977 he produced The Nashville Album, a record by Chip Hawkes, who had recently left the Tremeloes (but would rejoin the group a few years thereafter). He also opened a publishing company with accomplished songwriter Ralph Murphy named Pic-A-Lic.

In 1992 he joined former Stranglers member Hugh Cornwell and guitarist Andy West to release an album, CCW.  Later he turned to writing for the stage and he has worked on two musicals, Beautiful and Damned, based on the lives of Jazz Age author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, in collaboration with Les Reed; and Don't You Rock Me Daddio, set in 1957 at the height of the skiffle age, with Joe Brown.
