Adam Faucett/Dillon Hodges - Shitty Barn Session No. 059

Adam Faucett first came to my attention last year. We had already booked the season, but I was smitten as soon as I heard him sing. (Adam, if you read this please forgive me...) Adam brings a physical vibe to bear that lives somewhere between a back-woods Lemmy and Steve Earle, which makes what happened next just all the more surprising: I SIMPLY COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING WHEN HE OPENED HIS MOUTH - a resonant, inspired, soulful, gut-wrenching, Redding-tinged total f*cking miracle of a voice. Which, you know, could kind of go either way: awesome or too precious, depending. Well believe you me, it goes straight-away in the direction of awesome and lives there all day long.

And so I reached out to Adam about coming in 2013, and it turned out he could come and that he was touring with Dillon Hodges. So I said "who the hell is that"? A young guy, flat picking prodigy, sings real good. Which you know, could kind of go either way: awesome or too "hyper-active moonshiner on speed trying to get to the last {insert funny thing a hyper-active moonshiner on speed would be in a hurry to get to here}." But it goes straight to awesome. Using his old-timey sensibility and bluegrass picking prowess for the powers of good, Dillon brings a bell-like quality and patience beyond his years to both his vocal and instrumental delivery. It's really true. It just sounds kind of perfect.
