Before You Burnout...Managing Workplace Stress

Description: With the continued pressures and ever increasing demands of the workplace, the practice of professional wellness often takes a back seat. This informative and energizing workshop addresses the importance of understanding and identifying the helping professional phenomena of compassion fatigue and in turn, practicing individual self-care techniques in all aspects of life, including the workplace. Participants will review their current methods for coping with career stress, identify and explore the six comprehensive areas of physical, emotional, intellectual, financial, social and spiritual wellness and create personalized and practical self-care strategies to support them in growing further both professionally and personally.

Objectives:
A. Identify individual healthy and unhealthy coping strategies in the professional work environment that lead to compassion fatigue;
B. Develop professional and personal goals outlining individual self-care techniques in the five areas of physical, emotional, intellectual social and spiritual wellness;
C. Learn to create support networks in the professional work environment to maximize potential
D. Identify community resources available for on-going support in the area of professional wellness.

Target Audience:
All professionals interested in seeking a deeper understanding of their own behaviors related to caring for others in healthy ways. This course is particularly beneficial for those involved in the Helping Professions (i.e. Educators, Doctors & Nurses, Social Service Personnel, Therapists & Counselors, Law Enforcement & Corrections).
