Northwind Arts Center joins Matt Miner Presents in welcoming Portland-based Matty Charles and Katie Rose, for an evening of sweet harmonies that will have you making comparisons with all the great duos from George and Tammy to Gram and Emmy Lou. The Matty and Katie story starts with a chance meeting in a Portland bar. Their musical pedigrees run deep. Matty spent years honing his craft in New York City where The Village Voice compared him favorable to Guy Clark. Katies genetic inheritance comes from her parents, Danny Wheetman, a member of John Denvers band in the 80s and now with Marleys Ghost, and her mother, singer-songwriter Seraina Wood.
The duo is honored to have worked on their new release Catching Arrows with legendary musicians, Nick Forster on mandolin, tenor and electric guitar, David P. Jackson and Arcellus Sykes on the upright bass, Joel Savoy on fiddle and guitar and Kevin Major on drums.
