Asthma: New Therapies for an Old Disease
Aretaeus of Cappadocia, a Greek physician, wrote the first medical description of asthma somewhere around 100 AD. Today, asthma afflicts one in 12 U.S. adults, and every year, it is responsible for approximately 439,000 hospitalizations and 3,500 deaths. However, a variety of effective asthma treatments have been developed over the years and we continue to explore new and better options.

Dr. Prashant Verma received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, completed internal medicine training at UC-San Diego Medical Center, and allergy-immunology training at UCLA Veterans Affairs Hospital and Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles. He is board certified in internal medicine and allergy-immunology. Dr. Verma is an active member of the Community Memorial Hospital medical staff.
