Herbal Medicine: Tending, Harvesting and Drying Medicinal Plants
This class will cover how to tend to your herb garden: do I use fertilizer or not, do I allow weeds, where did my plants go, what about insecticides, do they need shade, or sun, water or dry, and why dont they flower? You will learn when and how to harvest, and how to use them: as tea, infused oil or vinegar, a tincture or as essential oil. We will start a tincture and an infused oil, all participants make a flower essence and take it home. This is a fun class filled with practical skills and ideas. We will spend time on the different medicinal and spiritual values of several herbs and Henriette will be ready to answer your specific questions for personal use. Come prepared to get the answers you need to maintain a beautiful herb garden! This is part of a three class series, all participants will get the documentation from the first class. Lunch included!
The third and last class will be September 16: Harvesting and Creating Products: harvesting plants, leaves and roots or rhizomes, using them for oils, vinegars, tinctures, cordials and other herbal drinks, making wax and herbal baths. You will definitely come out with some nice Holiday presents or / and medicines to keep you healthy during the winter. We will also focus on what to do during the winter with your herb garden and already start planning for next season. At Habanera Farm, 10 am to 2 pm, lunch included.
