BIMA Summer Camp: Comics & Cartooning with Greg Stump
Explore, experiment and create during BIMAs Summer Camps! Students entering grades 5-8 are invited to participate in week-long camps led by experienced teaching artists and supported by teaching assistants in a bright and welcoming museum environment. Each week will expose participants to new materials, ideas, and ways of making, using the classroom, museum exhibits and our surrounding island community as inspiration. All supplies provided, and maximum enrollment for each week is 15 students.

Drawing and storytelling come together in this week of comic and cartoon exploration. Students will be encouraged to develop their own narrative voice while working together to create a collaborative zine, which will be art directed, written and published by the group by the end of the week.

Greg Stump has been working in Seattle as a teacher and freelance artist/writer for close to two decades. Currently he teaches as a writer-in-residence in Seattle public schools through Seattle Arts & Lectures Writers in the Schools program, and he has past experience teaching at such organizations as Pratt Fine Arts Center, the Frye Art Museum, Arts Corps, and Coyote Central. His primary medium is comics. He has been a regular contributor to The Stranger, and his comic book series Urban Hipster has been nominated for numerous awards. His graphic novel, Disillusioned Illusions, was published by Fantagraphics Books.
