A 3-class series on Celtic Magic and Sorcery.

Week 1: Blessing, Binding & Cursing
The Celtic cultures preserve a rich and ancient body of magical lore: blessing and purification rites; protective charms and spells; fate-binding and foredestination; dire curses and battle sorceries. These many forms draw on the traditions of poetic incantation and the power of the Otherworld. This class draws knowledge from folk tradition, archaeological study, early literature, and personal experience, to explore several charms and sorceries in depth, using each as a window into the Celtic worldview and cosmology.

Week 2: Working with Spirits in Celtic Sorcery
The Celtic tales tell of priests and druids, witches and warriors, conjuring mighty magics with the aid of Otherworldly forces and alliances. They called the rivers to rise to their aid; the skies to pour showers of sorcery; the land to bring forth phantom armies to fight for them. They conjured spirit guardians and shapeshifted into animal forms. Their very tools and weapons were ensouled with spirits allied to their cause. In this class, we will delve into methods of spirit work from folk tradition, archaeological study, early literature, and personal experience, to discover how spirit alliances can foster a vibrant magical practice.

Week 3: Against an Unjust King: Working Magic for Justice
Celtic traditions center sovereignty and the rituals of kingship, but they also contain many tales of the magics by which an unjust ruler might be brought low. From the deadly poetry of satire, to the wounding spells of the druidic corrguinecht, the harrowing scream of a woman's suffering that carried a curse against the men who wronged her, and the spiritual retribution of the hunger strike, this workshop will explore methods of magical redress against oppression and injustice.

This class series is taught by Morpheus Ravenna, Lore Chieftain of the Coru Cathubodua Priesthood. You can find her bio here: http://www.corupriesthood.com/members/
