Intro to Local Plant Medicine: Discovery Park
Come join us at Discovery Park for a three hour intensive class on plant identification, wildcrafting and herbal medicine.
During the first part of the workshop, you will receive all the information you need to know to go out and harvest safely, and some basic information about using herbal remedies. During the second part of the walk, we will touch, peel bark, smell and observe everything we come across during a plant walk. Discovery Park has a wonderful diversity of forest, field and coastal plants, including English hawthorn, Oregon grape, Douglas fir, trailing blackberry, nettle, rose, yarrow, St. John's wort, and more. After our walk, we will make a medicinal preparation from something we harvest on the walk.
Bring a notebook, a rain jacket, and walking shoes and expect to take notes and ask questions.
The class is offered by The Adiantum School of Plant Medicine, taught by local herbalist Natalie Hammerquist. In addition to being a clinical western herbalist, Natalie is also very knowledgable about identifying local plants. She has been harvesting plants in the area for food and medicine for about 7 years.
LOCATION: We will meet in the South Parking lot of Discovery Park.
