RevitalizeWA
The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation and the Washington State Main Street Program are pleased to host RevitalizeWA, the Washington State Main Street and Preservation Conference, at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center in Walla Walla on May 11-13, 2011.  This two-day conference will feature a full day of sessions on May 12 and a half day on May 13, followed by afternoon tours.  A "Main Street 101" workshop is scheduled for May 11.

This year's keynote speaker, Becky McCray, is an international expert on rural community development, heritage tourism and social media.  Ms. McCray says that small businesses and small towns matter. She is a small town business owner, with a retail store and a cattle ranch in Woods County, Oklahoma. Through her consulting firm she helps small town governments, and promotes entrepreneurship and tourism in small towns.

Her dedication to small business has been featured in The New York Times, BusinessWeek, and Entrepreneur Magazine. She publishes the popular website, Small Biz Survival, on small town small business, and she is the author of 20 Small Business Ideas for Small Towns and Shop Local Campaigns for Small Towns. All of this from her home base in Hopeton, Oklahoma, a community of fewer than 30 people.

In addition to a wonderful keynote speaker, we will be offering a variety of sessions relating to the revitalization of our historic downtowns.  Please visit our website, PreserveWA.org/revitalizeWA to find the preliminary conference schedule.

There are two evening receptions included in your conference registration.  The opening reception is May 11 and the "Excellence on Main" awards reception to follow on May 12.

In addition to the conference, the Trust is thrilled to be hosting a special Winemaker's Dinner on May 13. Please join the Trust, Sleight of Hand Cellars and Olive Catering for this fantastic event.  More details about the dinner are listed below.
