Chemical Dependency Training Consortium of the Northwest presents Local, National and International Trends in Drug Availability, Use and Trafficking

This training aims to provide participants with knowledge of the most recent local, national and international trends and developments involving production, trafficking, use and impacts of drugs of abuse. Participants will be presented with information regarding latest drug abuse information for illicit and legal substances. Additionally, the presenter will discuss the efforts to "medicalize" or legalize the possession and use of marijuana and the implementation of legalization. This training will include discussion about synthetic drugs, including types, use, availability and challenges.

Participants will gain knowledge of

-  Characteristics, production, availability and commerce associated with marijuana in Oregon and Washington State,

-  Illegal, medical and recreational markets involving marijuana in Washington State, as well as the implementation and status of Initiative 502,

-  Availability, commerce and use of stimulants, including cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription stimulants in region,

-  Availability, commerce and use of opiates, including illicit opiates, prescription analgesics and prescription opiate substitution medications in region, and

-  National and international trends and developments involving the production, trafficking, availability, use and impacts of licit and illicit drugs.

Steve Freng, Psy.D, MSW, currently serves as the Prevention/Treatment Manager for the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (NW HIDTA), a region of fourteen counties within Washington State that has been designated by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy for special law enforcement and chemical dependency initiatives. The programs under his direction focus on several areas, including the development, operation and evaluation of Drug Courts throughout the NW HIDTA region. He also coordinates substance abuse prevention projects in nine counties within the region, each based on active collaborations with law enforcement agencies and variously emphasizing innovative service strategies, public education activities and neighborhood development projects.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, please notify CDTC by phone or email three days in advance of training, so as we may make refund arrangements and adjust the catering order for that training.    
Refund: A refund may be given only when notification is given at least 3 days prior to the training.  Notification under 3 days will follow the credit agreement.
Credit: If notification is given within 1 week after the training, a credit will be given for the next training only.
