Zine Making for Expression, Empowerment, and Community
Zines are powerful, personal, and they have been intrinsic in underground political movements. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore zine-making as a creative tool for self-expression, resistance, and healing. A zine is a mini booklet to tell your story, share your opinions, or educate people on an issue that matters to you. Trans and queer youth have historically used zines to express themselves authentically, build community, organize, and demand visibility. We'll dive into the roots of zine culture, especially within LGBTQ+ activism, then create our own zines using cut-and-paste collage techniques, writing prompts, and shared conversation. No artistic experience required, just a voice and a desire to share it.
All supplies will be provided.
