One of the biggest obstacles to starting a new business, or acquiring an existing business, is getting the funding to cover startup costs. While a traditional bank loan can be a good option for many people, its not always the right fit for everyone. The application process can be challenging and the requirements for qualifying can be out of reach for people with poor credit or not credit history at all. Fortunately, there are other options available that make securing a loan more accessible to a wider range of people. This workshop will cover a few of the options available to entrepreneurs in the Methow Valley. One option is the Methow Investment Network (MIN), a program of TwispWorks. The Methow Investment Network connects local investors with local entrepreneurs seeking to start, grow, or acquire new businesses. In this workshop, Patrick Law, Economic Program Director at TwispWorks, will share information about the investment network and explain the process for pitching to MIN. This will be followed by Lew Blakeney, a Certified Business Advisor with the Small Business Development Center, who will share information about other options for securing funding and steps one should take to prepare for taking on a loan. There will also be time available to ask questions and gather feedback on potential business ideas. This workshop is free and open to the public. Come learn how to make your small business dream a reality.
