Saturday, May 3, 2025 Evergreen Valley College, VPA Theatre, San Jose 2:30 PM Light Reception | 4:006:30 PM Commemoration & Cultural Show.
We carry the memory of those we lost, the strength of those who survived, and the responsibility to rebuild what was broken--with love, resilience, and cultural pride.
This year marks 50 years since the Cambodian Genocide, a tragedy that took the lives of over 2 million people and forever changed the fabric of our global Cambodian community. The Cambodian American Resource Agency (CARA) and ASPIRE PLLUS invite you to join us in a day of collective remembrance, healing, and cultural celebration.
At 2:30 PM, join us for a light reception with food for purchase, community resource tables, and opportunities to reconnect with one another. Please note that food and drinks are not permitted inside the theatre, so be sure to enjoy them before the show begins. At 4:00 PM, we begin a commemorative program and cultural showcase featuring master artists- some of whom performed together before the Khmer Rouge era and in refugee camps. Their return to the stage is a rare and emotional reunion.
We will also honor the unsung elders and first-generation survivors- cultural keepers who have served our community with quiet devotion for decades.
Tickets are required to support event production and artists. A limited amount of discounted tickets are available for those with financial hardship- We want this space to be open and accessible for all. Please email for more info.
This is more than an event- it is an act of remembrance, a call to healing, and a step toward rebuilding the future our ancestors dreamed for us.
Let us remember. Let us heal. Let us rebuild- Together!
Please Note: All proceeds from the event will go towards covering the costs of organizing this cultural event and programming, ensuring that we can continue to bring the beauty of Cambodian heritage to our community. If you would like to become an event SPONSOR or DONOR, please contact Dr. Kara Uy Has, CARA's President and Executive Director at Kara.Has@evc.edu
