About
(Dave Fleischer, 1928-1938, United States, 60 min, in English)

NEWLY RESTORED IN 4K, THE CARTOONS OF MAX AND DAVE FLEISCHER ARE COMING TO THE FORUM!

Northwest Film Forum is thrilled to announce a screening of eight classic and newly restored cartoons from the pioneering and immensely influential Max and Dave Fleischer in honor of our favorite Hallmark Holiday: Valentines Day. Most well-known for their original cartoons and characters Betty Boop, Bimbo the Dog, and Koko the Clown, as well as their refreshing takes on popular characters like Popeye and Superman, the Fleischer Brothers created a wide breadth of work that reached far into the depths of the fantastic and absurd while maintaining a strong hold on a unique approach to humor.

This program focuses on stories about lovers From Popeye and Olive Oyl rolling through the city on skates, spaghetti limbs flailing about, to Betty Boop as Cinderella courting her Prince Charming in her only color film appearance, its impossible to not be head over heels with these films, as well as whoever youre enjoying them with.

As a special bonus, this program will be hosted by the one and only Milo Harms, who will be sure to woo you with his passionate love for all things Fleischer and give you a night you wont soon forget ð'

Cartoons In This Program Include:
Dancing on the Moon (1935, 7min)
Honeymooning couples of various animal species take a rocket ship excursion to the moon. Spectacular lunar scenery.

A Date to Skate (1938, 7min)
Popeye takes Olive roller skating in a rink. Shes never skated before, so he has to teach her, and shes not a quick learner. Before long Olive ends up outside the rink, rolling wildly out of control.

Dizzy Red Riding Hood (1931, 6min)
Betty Boop goes to Grandmas through the woods despite wolf warnings; but Bimbo follows and gives the old story a new twist.

In My Merry Oldsmobile (1931, 7min)
A lady is rescued from a villain by a heroic young man, who then takes her for a spin in his Oldsmobile.

Kokos Courtship (1928, 7min)
Koko the Clown and Fitz the dog escape into the live-action world.

Mask-a-Raid (1931, 7min)
Betty Boop is queen of the Masquerade Ball where, among other antics, Bimbo and a lecherous old man vie for her affections.

Poor Cinderella (1934, 11min)
In the only Betty Boop color cartoon, Cinderella (Betty) goes to the ball thanks to her fairy godmother. Later, only her foot fits the glass slipper.

Jack and the Beanstalk (1931, 7min)
Bimbo climbs a beanstalk to find Betty Boop enslaved by the giant.

Accessibilité

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter. The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
