About
(Hong Sang-soo, South Korea, 2024, 1hour 30min, in Korean and French with English subtitles)
A comedy of improbable encounters and unlikely language lessons, A Travelers Needs marks the third collaboration between Hong and Huppert (following 2012s In Another Country and 2017s Claires Camera). This time Huppert plays Iris, a woman who finds herself adrift in Seoul and without any means to make ends meet, turns to teaching French via a très peculiar method. Through a series of encounters, as we grow to know more about Iris and her situation, the mysteries of her circumstances only deepen.
A charming troupe of Hong regulars complete the cast, including Lee Hyeyoung as one of Hupperts students and Kwon Haehyo as her flirty husband. A film about meaning and connection and the comfort of makgeolli, A Travelers Needs, offers a surprising take on inter-continental rendezvous and continues one of the most unique actor-director collaborations in contemporary cinema.

Accessibilité
Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at maria@nwfilmforum.org
