A Musical Journey: A Celebration of 20 Years in Guzheng
Winnie Wong and Chinas Spirit Music Ensemble are proud to present our 20th Anniversary Concert titled A Musical Journey: A Celebration of 20 Years in Guzheng on Sunday, November 12, 3:00 pm at BATS Improv Theatre.
For two decades, our unique ensemble of talented musicians has been passionately playing the Guzheng, an ancient Asian instrument with a rich history that dates back over 2500 years. Throughout history, this remarkable instrument has captured the hearts of countless music enthusiasts with its warm, resonant timber sound, captivating listeners across generations. Our ensemble has nurtured countless Guzheng talents, preserving our rich cultural heritage and providing a vital link for Asian Americans to connect with their roots. We take immense pride in building a vibrant community, where music and joy are shared among people from all backgrounds.
GUEST ARTISTS: Diana Rowan (Harp) Colm O'Riain (Violin) Angela Lee (Cello) Wendy Liu (Cello) Will Hou (Sheng) Nick Sager (Percussion) Daniel Hirtz (Djembe) Crystal Jang (Taiko)
FEATURED GUEST: We have the honor of inviting two outstanding guest performers this year, Colm ORiain (violin/fiddle) and Diana Rowan (harp), who will be performing as a trio with Winnie Wong under their show-stopping collective known as Lucky Pluckers. This is a rare and must-see fusion between Irish and Chinese traditional music, one of many magnificent melting pot discoveries in Ms. Wongs mission to join culture and sounds.
Our concert finale will feature Winnie Wongs latest arrangement, Generals Aria, a musical narrative drawing the scenes, circumstances and emotions of wars story. This powerful and creative composition was inspired by the popular Cantonese folk melody, The Generals Command. Ms. Wongs performance and creation, accompanied by CSME principal performers, will take your sensory levels to new heights and tug at your heart strings! Help us spread the harmony and cultural understanding that our ensemble represents. Join hands with us to make the 20th Anniversary Concert an unforgettable celebration of music and heritage.
