Welcome to America

Welcome to America tells the story of the immigrant worker and their daily struggle to capture a piece of the American Dream. Our show is loosely based on the events that took place at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in 1910 - just months before the buildings tragic fire that claimed the lives of 145 garment workers mostly immigrants and mostly women. It chronicles the beginning of their fight for equality, representation, and basic human rights as they find themselves in a reality that it is quite different from the dream they travelled so far to find. Desperate to carve out a better life for themselves and future generations the workers talk of Unionization and are met with staunch opposition from industry leaders who were content with the low wages, long hours and unsafe working conditions resulting in our stories conclusion. Armed with hope, conviction and a God-given right to have their voices heard this is their story The Immigrants Story an American Story. Welcome to America.
