Arion Chamber Music presents Quartet 131
Christ and St. Stephen's Church
New York, NY
Partager cet événement :

Quartet 131 will perform a program including works by Dvorak, Florence Price, Bernard Herrmann, and Charles Griffes.

Price was the first African-American woman to have been recognized as a symphonic composer and to have had a composition presented by a major American orchestra.  Her  Five Folk Songs in Counterpoint for string quartet is a particularly compelling selection for Black History Month, as it, along with the Griffes work, are a realization of Dvorák's vision for the future of American Music

Bernard Herrmann is best know as the composer who scored such film classics as Psycho, Citizen Kane, Vertigo, Taxi Driver, and The Birds.  His work, Echoes, for String Quartet, is a reflective composition that includes themes from some of his movie scores.
