"FRIGHT" by Jo Stewart
FRIGHT follows the journey of a young woman, as she flees her country of origin. Her story begins on the borderlands, where she encounters the various characters who inhabit that landscape: the SHAPESHIFTER, the BOBCAT, and the DEAD WOMAN. Each borderland dweller is brought to life with song, snatches of dialogue, and a distinct movement vocabulary that delineates their instincts and territories. Here, the FUGITIVE trains her eyes on that particular point of disorientation, where departure meets arrival at the border of FRIGHT and the uncharted country that lies beyond.
"Black Pill" by Jesse Van Buren Faustus but, like, the internet.
" | BAb(oo)shka" by Anna Lublina | BAb(oo)shka is an interdisciplinary performance rooted in the liberating potential of queer translation. Three non-Russian-speaking performers live-translate a series of impassioned anecdotes told by my Soviet Jewish grandmother. Their retellings emerge as an imperfect patchwork of interpretation incorporating dance and physical theater. Ultimately, BAB(oo)shka asks: what grows out of the fraught space of miscommunication?
Created in collaboration with: Shubhra Prakash, Bianca Lau, Anna Slate with help from Amy Wiley, Cora Walters, and Elena Rose Light
