Small Business Lunch at Halls
The King Street Marketing Group and Halls Chophouse are pleased to welcome Angela Mack, Executive Director of the Gibbes Museum of Art, as this month's guest speaker at Small Business Lunch at Halls, Thursday, December 4th.

Mrs. Mack is also the chief curator for the Gibbes which will undergo a major building renovation beginning in 2014.

"The purpose of the renovation is to bring together two components of the visual arts  creativity and the finished product," said Mack. "We are all looking forward to the museum's reopening and its re-engagement with the community on a much broader scale."

*** Why an 18-month Renovation?
*** What can we expect from the newly renovated museum?

Established as the Carolina Art Association in 1858, the Gibbes Museum of Art opened its doors to the public in 1905.

Located in Charleston's historic district, the Gibbes houses a premier collection of over 10,000 works of fine art, principally American works with a Charleston or Southern connection and presents special exhibitions annually. In addition, the museum offers an extensive complement of public programming and educational outreach initiatives.

A prolific author, Angela Mack's publications include Landscape of Slavery:  The Plantation in American Art (2008); Edward Hopper in Charleston (2008); Henry Benbridge (1743-1812): Charleston Portrait Painter (2001); and In Pursuit of Refinement: Charlestonians Abroad, 1740-1860 (1999).

A contributor to several periodicals, she has written articles for The Magazine Antiques, Sculpture Magazine, American Art Review, and South Carolina Historical Society Magazine.

Mrs. Mack is chair of the Charleston Heritage Federation, and is a member of the Board of the Charleston Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Arts Committee for the Charleston Regional Airport Authority, and the Art and History Commission of the City of Charleston.

She has served on the advisory committee for the Charleston Art and Antiques Forum and on the scholars committee for the 2011 NYC Winter Antique Show exhibition for Historic Charleston Foundation.

She has lectured at Sotheby's in New York, Colonial Williamsburg, the Natchez Antique Forum, the Charleston Art and Antiques Forum, and for the National Decorative Arts Trust.

Each month, Small Business Lunch at Halls features a distinguished speaker from the business, civic or political arenas upstairs at Halls Chophouse with an imaginative three-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Niessner.

Tickets are $29 per person plus tax and processing fee for the luncheon and parking. Doors open at 11:30 AM and lunch is served promptly at noon. Limited seating of 90 participants provides an intimate experience with each speaker.

Halls Chophouse is located at 434 King Street in downtown Charleston. Parking, validated at the event, is available at the Visitors Center Garage on Ann Street between King and Meeting Streets.
