"Okay, so there are a lot of cover shows on Halloween. It's a Boston tradition for 00's hipsters to get dressed up like 80's hipsters and get all "retro." Well, we at the Cover-Up always like to take it that one step further. You want to get retro? We're going to retro your heinies all the way back to your childhoods.
For me, Halloween has been about three things: avoiding hidden razor blades in candy bars, running from neighborhood 8th graders with eggs, and silently rueing the lack of insulation in the yellow tights in my Lion-O costume. Actually now that I think of it, Halloween kind of sucked raw eggs, didn't it?
So why revisit childhood at the Lizard Lounge on Halloween? Well, first of all I'm a wicked cool (local) rock star now, while I'm pretty sure the eighth graders that chased me are STILL in juvie, despite being in their late 30's at this point. Also, the Lizard has beer, served to me by attractive bartenders named Jordan.
Most importantly, the music. Our childhood had the BEST music. The Muppets, Schoolhouse Rock, Willy Wonka, The Wizard of Oz... the list goes on and on. They just don't write them like they used to, kids. So let's drown our long-buried trauma in beer and candy at the Lizard Lounge this Halloween. Wear a costume, sing a song, and come with me to a world of pure imagination.
And alcohol. Being a grown-up is awesome, isn't it?"
