An Evening with The Stone Foxes

San Francisco blues rockers The Stone Foxes will bring their throwback sounds to Arena Theater for a concert and dance on Saturday November 14 at 8:00 PM. The Stone Foxes are a rock and roll band heavily influenced by the great rock, blues, folk and country stars of the 60s and 70s. The Stone Foxes play a unique brand of loose rock and roll and heavy, dirty blues. The band is a quartet of young men in their early twenties: Shannon Koehler - vocals, drums, harp; Spence Koehler - vocals, guitar; Aaron Mort - vocals, guitar, bass, harp; Avi Vinocur - vocals, bass, guitar. They've been called everything from "A clear contender for one of 2009's early buzz bands" (Phoenix New Times) to "the Grateful Dead meets the Faces, using the Black Crowes equipment" (Dave Sloan, DMX). According to Las Vegas City Life, "The San Francisco quartet sounds like a more snarling version of the Rolling Stones in their Muddy Waters days."

Aaron Mort and brothers Spence and Shannon Koehler grew up playing music in the hills of California's Central Valley, but it was not until after relocating to San Francisco for school that the three actually met and started playing music together. Los Angeles native/musician Avi Vinocur was introduced through a friend. With two years in the San Francisco rock and roll scene under their belts, The Stone Foxes have contributed to keeping the spirit of San Francisco's vibrant music scene alive. The Stone Foxes have been gaining attention for their live shows that pack a heavy punch with personality to match. With warm overdriven amps, saturated bass, thumping drums, smokey vocals and a wailing blues harp, The Stone Foxes crank it up when the groove gets tight. The guys have moved in together, converted their garage into a bona fide home studio, recorded an album, and booked their fair share of high-profile gigs in and around S.F. In fact, their live shows have garnered the band some serious attention from the Bay Guardian, San Francisco Chronicle, and even Elwood Blues himself, Dan Aykroyd.
