DEUXIÈME Chilled Corn Soup sweet summer corn, basil, buttermilk, escargot-stuffed squash blossom ****2011 ALTESSE BLANC, DOMAINE NICOLAS GONIN, ISÈRE, SAVOIE, FRANCE a weighty mouthfeel with olde world control. it has a cool southern italian or hungarian furmint thing going on. bravo!
TROISIÈME Yukon Gold Potato Wrapped Alaskan Halibut baby spinach, buerre blanc, sauce provençal ****2011 Saumur, Domaine de Saint Just, Yves Lambert, Loire Valley, France a lovely viscous round quality. a chenin weightiness. mainly because it's chenin.
QUATRIÈME Herbs de Provence-Crusted New Zealand Lamb Chop chived-mashed peruvian potato, heirloom roasted vegetable, dijon/ cabernet demi-glace ****2010 SYRAH/ GRENACHE/ CARIGNAN, MAS DES AGRUNELLES, LANGUEDOC, FRANCE this wine is truly showing its rhône grape gutsiness. meaty & manly (in a somewhat elegant ladies of wwf sort of way).
