Extreme Playwriting    with Megan Cohen   $45 for PCSF members
Ever jumped out of a plane to go skydiving on paper? Let's have an adventure in extreme playwrighting with a series of pen-to-page exercises that open new writing possibilities for both novice and experienced writers. We'll brainstorm micro and macro stories, silent moments and cacophonous ones, sparse worlds and decadent stage pictures, in a process exploring contrasts and risks on the page. Where are the edges of what you are able to make? We'll push our creativity to the farthest places we can. Bring a pen and paper, and let's be real, you might want to have a cup of coffee first.

Saturday, November 8, 2014 10-1pm
Playmaking    with Adam Sussman      $45 for PCSF members
Curious to shake up your approach to playwriting?  We'll look at a number of ways of making plays that step away from the writer's desk.  From conception, to structure, to development, we'll play with non-traditional ideas of what it means to make a play and what a play can be. Together we'll explore the world of devised work and generative exercises from a range of cutting edge practitioners and discuss how they can be incorporated into your own writing practice. Come prepared to play, share, and be inspired.

Saturday, November 15, 2014. 10-1pm.
Bones and Viscera: The Anatomy of Dramatic Storytelling  with William Bivins     $45 for PCSF members
Dramatists often refer to the "structure" of a play. An engineering metaphor, however, can feel lifeless and rigid. A play is more like a living organism. It not only has a skeleton, but guts and muscle: emotions and forward movement. Learn how to construct the bones of your playthe basic elements of conflict and scenic actionand explore how they are fleshed-out and brought to life by the emotional lives of your characters.
