Archtoberfest - Rancho Santa Fe - Celebrity Architectural Walking Tour
Diane Welch's Celebrity Walking Tour of Rancho Santa Fe provides an in-depth look at the local architecture of the village of Rancho Santa Fe and the silver screen celebrities who haunted the short few blocks that comprise what was once called the civic center. In the 1920s and 30s, as the Ranch was being developed into an exclusive enclave of Gentleman Ranchos, it attracted movie stars and directors, superstar celebrities in their day, who sought refuge from the bustle of Hollywood. The tour visits neighborhood landmarks including The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, the former offices and apartments of master architect Lilian J. Rice, the Joers/Ketchum building, the former Rancho Santa Fe school building, the Administration block, and the Rancho Santa Fe Senior Center, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
