Alex Gross - The Theory of Absolute Agreement
An improvisor in the Philadelphia area, Alex has been doing comedy since high school where he formed a sketch group called CWA (Crackers with Attitude) and took part in his school's improv club. After high school, Alex went to The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City, where he completed their improv curriculum, studying under instructors: Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Shannon O'Neill, Gavin Speiller, Ari Voukydis, Joe Wengert, Kevin Hines, Silvija Ozols and Doug Moe. Alex fell in with PHIT after attending workshops the theater offered as part of the LeHigh University Improv Festival and has studied in Philadelphia with instructors David Warick, Mark Bringhurst, Kristen Schier and Kevin Allison (MTV's The State). He has also taken many workshops, instructors include Mark Sutton, Susan Messing, Matt Besser, Armando Diaz, Christina Gausas, Asaf Ronen, Dave Buckman and Shaun Landry. He is a past member of PHIT House Team King Friday and PHIT House Team Hey Rube, creator of The Gross Show (nominated for a 2011 WitOut award) and co-creator of PRO Mania (winner of a 2011 WitOut award, nominated 2012 WitOut award). He is currently a member of PHIT House Team Big Baby and an assortment of independent projects. In his free time Alex likes to live an anti-fascist, gay-positive, pro-feminist and animal-friendly life while raging against the machine.

The Theory of Absolute Agreement is the practice of creating awesome scenes while applying Zen and Anarchism ideas to improv. Leaderless, working together and living in the moment each and every scene. Building scenes focused on the "who" so you can find the "what" and "where" together. Where there are no conflict scenes between each other but scenes focused on "Mutual Love and Respect". All while including a heavy emphasis on the fundamentals of improv that we too often forget while in practice. The workshop is for beginners and experts alike because all good improv scenes are relative.

What students say about Alex:

"Alex's ability to connect with and understand each of us individually and give us just the right feedback to allow us to improve quickly was impressive, to say the least."

"Having Alex Gross as a teacher was the best thing ever. He is so passionate and so hungry to see other people become better improvisers."

"Alex made improv fun!"
