AIAOC ADA Program

Newport Beach Civic Center & Park an ADA
Walking Tour

Are you looking for a program to meet the California Architects Board ADA course requirement? AIAOC is offering you an opportunity to earn 2.0 qualifying units for license renewal.

Attendees will tour the recent completed, dog park, and civic center in Newport Beach. During this approximately one mile walking tour, attendees will learn about ADA applications as they impact the external environment including the implication of ramps, bridges, elevators, seating, parking, and general movement through a sloped park.

Learning Objectives:

-Attendees will learn about the application of ADA on park like settings

-Attendees will have a hands-on experience to see actual applications good and bad

-Attendees will discuss alternative methods for ADA design during the initial design phase

-Attendees will learn how to modify existing conditions to bring them to code compliance

Speaker's Bio: Ms. Afshar is an AIA member architect with 30 years of experience in commercial and public facilities, with a focus on interior architecture and accessibility. She has been involved with Access related work since 1991. Ms. Afshar is also CID, LEED AP and CASp certified.
