Promoting Your Work: A Workshop for Artists
Promoting Your Work combines nuts-and-bolts strategies with a broad-based empowered approach to promoting your artistic projects. This session discusses promoting your work as an integral, natural part of the creative process. The focus is on the necessary tools for promotion and how to use them to communicate with others about your work and gain wider media coverage, in both traditional and new, electronic medias.
This Workshop is for artists of all disciplines and levels. Drawing from roundtable discussions, research on best practices in the field, and artists' on-the-ground experience, this workshop incorporates a step-by-step overview of the topic, group exercises and discussion. The Workshop is based on Creative Capital's acclaimed weekend retreat professional development workshop, which has reached over 2,000 artists across the country and internationally. It will be led by artist/educator Jackie Battenfield, author of the just-released The Artists Guide: Making a Living Doing What You Love (Da Capo, 2009), along with artist/Creative Capital grantee Dread Scott. The maximum number of participants is 24.
