A Springtime Evening of Love Songs
Enjoy an evening of classic old-fashioned love songs from the very talented Chris Ferguson and the "With Love" band, and a few originals as well.

The "With Love" band:

Maggie Laird is an active performer in the Pacific Northwest as vocalist for Island Jazz Quintet, Portage Fill-harmonic Big Band, as a solo pianist, and in small ensembles singing originals, standards, and an array of songs from Bob Dylan to Lou Reed. Her original live performances featuring her own vocals and compositions have been produced at Seattle Fringe Theatre Festivals, On the Boards, the Bathhouse Theatre, ArtsEdge, and other Seattle cabaret venues. Her latest show, "We Must Have Whiskey, Oh You Know Why," featuring the music of Kurt Weill, debuted in Seattle and showed at the Full House Cabaret series in Philadelphia. Maggie has taught piano and voice in her home studio on Vashon Island since 1995. She also serves as Music Director for theatre groups on Vashon and in Seattle.

Terry Kingen has been playing guitar since he was a baby. A versatile musician, he is an active figure in the Northwest's music culture as a performer, teacher and guitar repairman. Recent projects have included work with Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, Cookie Spirk, Brian Butler, the Titans of Twang, Knut Bell and Shannon Beck. He is happy to work in the styles of jazz, country, blues, folk and old time rock 'n' roll.

Jake Svendsen is a Seattle-based jazz pianist and composer who has performed with Swing Shift, the Jacob Zimmerman Quintet, and the Jake Svendsen trio.  Jake grew up in Eugene, Oregon and attended the New England Conservatory in Boston where he studied with Fred Hersch and Ran Blake, and received a Bachelor's in Jazz Performance.

Chris Ferguson is a Seattle based musician, originally from California. A bass graduate of the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, Ca, he has studied with Chuck Rainey, Leroy Vinegar, Abraham Laboriel, Mundell Lowe and Bob Magnuson, and performed and played with Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Peter Green, among others. He currently performs in the Seattle area with various groups, including Tim Noah, Country Rock Association, Tommy Cook Trio with Kevin Sutton, and others. In addition, Chris teaches bass at Mills Music in the Bothell area. He is also a board member of the non-profit MusicBox Project, which has been featured at the Northwest Folklife Festival, been featured nationally on NPR and has been included in the US Congress National Endowment of the Arts 2010 budget proposal to the US Congress.

Todd Zimberg has been performing and teaching in the Puget Sound region nearly 30 years working with some legendary Northwest blues and R&B artists, including Duffy Bishop, Isaac Scott, Tom McFarland and Jay Mabin and jazz groups such as  The Jazz Police Big Band, Tony Gable and 206,  reggae group Jumbalassy, and Sam Andrew from Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin's band).  He has been the timpanist for the Federal Way Symphony, under the direction of Maestro A. Brian Davenport. He is currently engaged with the Summer Academy program and the artistic and co-director of the Swing Orcherstra. He played Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the opening of the Goodwill Games in Seattle with the orchestra in 1990.  In addition, Todd has studied with Seattle Symphony timpanist Michael Crusoe and has completed a Masters degree in percussion at the UW.

In 1997 Todd started the Vashon Percussion Camp (AKA DRUM CAMP). It is now in its 18th season.  The Camp has been a wonderful experience and through it, he has had the fortunate opportunity to work with Yaw Eugene Amponsah, and in 2005 and 2008 traveled to Kumasi, Ghana with a group of students to study Kete drumming with his father Koo Nimo. Todd currently teaches World Music and Rock & Roll History in the humanities department at Highline Community College and regularly performs in the Seattle area, working with Island Jazz Quintet, Home Sweet Home, Chris Stevens, maintains work with the Federal Way Symphony, and works many recording and club dates.

Mike Marinig started playing sax when he was 9 years old.  In high school he was an award-winning saxophonist in the State of Washington, and received instruction from Gary Burton (Vibraphone), Blue Lou Marini (Saxophone) as well as others, and received a scholarship to Green River Community College where he performed with Scatman Crothers and the award-winning Green River Community College Jazz Band. Mike also studied voice with Maestro David Kyle and performed as a saxophonist, vocalist and keyboardist with local rock band Head First as well as having open invitations to sit in with the well known Pacific Northwest act, Jr. Cadillac.  Mike has also used his musical talents as a church choir director/vocalist/pianist and saxophonist performing Traditional country and Black gospel music.
Mike returned to the Seattle Blues scene in 2010 and performs on sax, vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion and writes original material (found on their recent release "Monday Night") with the internationally-acclaimed "CD Woodbury Band". He also enjoys occasional gigs with "Echoes", a Seattle area Pink Floyd Tribute band and sitting in at many of the local Blues jams in the area.
