Some 'More' Women...
Patti and Janice are back at it with Some 'More' Women!
The singer and pianist share stories and music about women and the roles they play. Music from the worlds of Musical Theatre, contemporary cabaret, the Great American Songbook, and Pop.
Songs that'll make you laugh, cry, sing along and maybe raise an eyebrow....
The gals will be joined by John Loach on trumpet and flugelhorn and Brad Thompson on bass and cajon.
'Some 'More' Women' is being performed in a small venue with limited seating. Actually, it's in Patti's kitchen which, in addition to the usual appliances, features a beautiful Steinway B piano. (See photo.) The home is in the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto and is the location of the long-running Jazz in the Kitchen concert series. There is plenty of free street parking and it is easily accessible by TTC.
Please feel free to bring a bottle of whatever you would like to drink with you to the event - we'll provide glasses! - and stay after the show to mix, mingle and share stories with Janice and Patti.
Admission is limited, and tickets MUST be purchased in advance.
Saturday November 29th - Doors open at 7:00pm show starts at 7:30pm. Sunday November 30th - Doors open at 2:00pm, show starts at 2:30pm
WHAT DO OUR AUDIENCES HAVE TO SAY?
"As an admirer and supporter of strong women, Patti and Janice rocked it! I also love Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hammerstein so there's that, too. These two warrior women not only put a whole lot of energy into this show, they did a ton of really interesting research. It was fascinating, and grabbed you right from the get go." - Richard Harrop, Toronto
"While the themes and the musical selections pay homage to many iconic women in show business think Carol Burnett & Gilda Radner the show certainly appeals equally to both women and men. The variety of musical selections from jazz standards to musical theatre were masterfully performed by Janice and Patti. The dialogue that wove together the various songs was both informative and delivered with healthy doses of humour and wit that reminded me of the play Two Pianos Four Hands." - Rob Mee, Toronto
"Lethal duo. Beauty. Brains. A lifetime of expertise. And wit to spare. Patti Loach, pianist, plays in all gears! Janice Hawke possesses vocal dexterity and a voice that you want to keep hearing. Brava! Three encores. Two standing ovations." - Lynn McDonald, presenter, Lynn McDonald Presents concert series, Port Perry.
