The Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars, formerly known as Maloney High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, will go Coconuts in an especially fun fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at the Meriden Elks Lodge, 120 E. Main St. Doors open at 6:00 and the entertainment starts at 7:00.
Proceeds will benefit the Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars Fund, which continues on in the tradition of the Maloney High School Alumni Scholarship Fund with each year presenting cash awards to select Maloney seniors who will pursue higher education after they graduate. Founded in 2022, the Fund awarded its first scholarships of $2,500 each to two Maloney seniors in 2024, and this year gave three $2,500 scholarships to deserving MHS seniors.
Fresh off their smash performance at the Meriden Daffodil Festival, Coconuts, the boomer humor music and comedy band formed 48 years ago by three Maloney High School graduates, will bring their expanded Coconuts Cabaret, bigger band line-up, to the stage at the Elks Lodge.
Coconuts have been entertaining people since 1977, touring throughout Connecticut and the East Coast and being hailed and remembered everywhere they go. Notably, the band from the very beginning has supported worthwhile causes and charities, such as Make-a-Wish, The Hunger Project, Veterans groups and many others.
The Scholarship Board of Directors is excited to partner with these fellow Spartans to help a new generation of Maloney grads achieve their dream of a higher education. The Board is working to make the scholarship initiative self-sustaining for an unlimited future of giving back to college-bound graduates of their shared Alma Mater.
