The Historical Society of Rockland County Invites You to Join Us for a
Walk through History on the Raymond G. Esposito Rail Trail in South Nyack
with Andrew Goodwillie

Walk the Raymond G. Esposito Memorial Trail, which travels from one end of the village of South Nyack to the other, with former South Nyack Trustee Andrew Goodwillie. The path follows the former route of the Northern Railroad of New Jersey, which began running trains from Nyack to Jersey City in the 1870s. The Erie Railroad acquired the Northern in 1942, and it operated as Eries Nyack and Piermont Branch until it ceased passenger service in 1966.
During the walk, Mr. Goodwillie will discuss the history of the area and highlight historical signage along the path that includes photos of South Nyack before the Tappan Zee Bridge and Thruway were built.
Please note: This two-mile walk (round trip) is rated easy and will take place entirely on the improved rail trail. Participants should wear sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. Please be sure to bring water and dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
