Push the Boat Out is delighted to host this online craft analysis workshop with internationally celebrated poet, Jorie Graham.
This class is dedicated to understanding the techniques that make poetry resonate. We'll explore the foundational elements of poetry, while also delving into more advanced concepts that present themselves in the two poems which we will analyse together.
As one of Americas most foremost poets, Graham has published numerous collections of poetry, including To 2040, [To] the Last [Be] Human, Runaway, and FAST which was shortlisted for the Forward Prize. Her collection, PLACE, won the Forward Prize for Best Collection. She has been the recipient of almost countless prizes and awards such as the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellowship, and the Morton Dauwen Zabel Award from The American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. She is the recipient of the 2017 Wallace Stevens Award, the Nonino Prize in 2013 and the L.A. Times Book Award Prize in Poetry in 2016 for From the New World.
