Hilltown Theatre Anonymous: As You Like It
For the fifth HTA annual event, we are tackling As You Like It!
Each year, we come together to tell/re-tell/un-tell one of Shakespeares stories through the prism of our Hilltown community. Our shows are cast and rehearsed in secret, which means that each actor meets one-on-one with the director and only finds out who else is in the show on the night of the performance! As a community, we talk back to the play, weaving our own words, music, and physical storytelling together with Shakespeare's text to create a kind of collage. Our shows are raucous, surprising, and full of the joy and strangeness of theatre at its best!
Said one audience member from last year: "Innovative doesn't quite express it. it was like watching my community pull off a huge, spontaneous magic trick -- to their surprise and our delight! I can't wait to see what they do next!"
