17th Annual Small Acreage Expo 2024
The 17th Annual Small Acreage Expo is a fun, valuable, and informative event that offers participants a choice of different workshops, tours, and demonstrations (see choices below). Learn about important topics that will help you manage your land, get to know local resources, meet other small acreage land stewards and have a great time at the 78th Street Heritage Farm!  

An open house during the lunch hour will allow participants to meet and learn more about local agencies that serve the public as well as ask questions to local vendors participating in the event.  

Pre-registration is $22.69 register by 2:30pm on June 7th to include lunch with registration. If you prefer not to order lunch registration is $12.09. Late registration price is $25 and can be paid on arrival with cash or check (lunch not included).

Session A (9am-10:15am):
- A1. Mud and Manure Management with Lisa Schuchman, NRCS
- A2. Biochar on Small Acreage with renowned biochar expert Kelpie Wilson (presenter will be presenting via Zoom - attendees may attend in-person or via Zoom - see Zoom registration option). Biochar kiln will be on site with Steve Thalberg, small acreage woodland steward

Session B (10:30am-11:45am):
- B1. Prescribed Grazing with Samantha Frundle, Clark Conservation District
- B2. Septic System Maintenance and Self-Inspection Certification*, Clark County Public Health
*Self-Inspection Qualification for conventional gravity-fed systems at your own residence only (alternating with a professional inspection)

Lunch (11:45am-12:45pm)
- Heritage Farm Tour #1 (noon - 12:30pm) guided by Clark County Master Gardeners

Session C (12:45pm-2:00pm):
- C1 Manure Spreader Demonstration with Sam Frundle, Clark Conservation District and Temporary Fencing Demonstration with David Morgan, PN Farm
- C2 Soil Health with Caoline Swansey,Yacolt Mountain Farm

Session D (2:15pm-3:30):
- D1 Pasture Management with Gary Fredricks, WSU Cowlitz County Extension
- D2 Regenerative Homesteading Practices with Rachel Freifelder, Handmade Gardens

Door Prize Raffle (3:30pm-3:45pm)
Final Heritage Farm Tour (3:45pm-4:45pm) guided by Clark County Master Gardeners
