Bus Daytrip: Untermyer Park and Gardens
The Historical Society of Rockland County Invites You to Join Us on a Daytrip to Explore
Untermyer Park & Gardens
When: Wednesday, May 15, 2024 Where: The bus leaves the Historical Society of Rockland County parking lot at 20 Zukor Road, New City, at 9:45 am and returns to the HSRC around 3:00 PM (rain or shine) Price: $139 per person/HSRC Members; $149 per person/Non-members (Includes all admissions and tour fees, tips, and a riverfront lunch at the Half Moon Restaurant).
Explore one of the most beautiful gardens in America, once part of the Yonkers estate of the attorney Samuel Untermyer and his wife, Minnie, philanthropists who supported cultural institutions and the causes of Zionism and womens suffrage in the early 20th century.
Designed in 1916 by the renowned landscape architect William Welles Bosworth, these classical and naturalistic gardens will awe you, as will the sweeping view of the Hudson and unspoiled Palisades beyond. After a guided tour led by the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, the nonprofit organization now working with the City of Yonkers to restore, interpret, and enhance the site, well head to Dobbs Ferry for a riverfront luncheon at the Half Moon Restaurant.
Note: This is an outdoor garden tour with substantial walking, steep staircases, and uneven terrain. It is not suitable for those whose mobility is limited or for whom extended walking is difficult.
Cancellation policy: Refunds will only be given if space can be filled by another guest prior to trip. A waiting list will be compiled, and available spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Only those who have made full payment can be accommodated."
