Blackstone Run at the Homegrown Coffeehouse
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASECONTACT: JIM OR BETH SARGENT March 22, 2014 781 444-7478
Blackstone Run is a fine New England-based acoustic string band rooted in folk, Celtic, and Bluegrass traditions. Say goodbye to winter for good with a high-energy evening of string band classics. Jackie Wheelock on vocals, guitar, and concertina offers up the strong vocal stylings that are a signature feature of Blackstone Run. Phip Wheelock is an accomplished vocalist, fingerstyle and flatpick guitar player. Phip has played with "The Sun Mountain Band," "Renya", "Bill Hall and the North Wind", and "Bluegrass Special", and he taught Bluegrass Academy guitar workshops at the 2007 and 2008 Joe Val Bluegrass Festivals. John Gotthardt contributes an encyclopedic knowledge of folk music tradition, decades-long experience as performer, and the bass and rhythm drive for the band. Hope Swift's vocals, repertoire, dynamic stage presence and instrumental talents on mando and guitar add an exciting range of expression and depth. Finally, there's Richard "Doc" Murdock, a fluid multi-instrumentalist whose dobro and banjo leads add power and virtuosity to Blackstone Run performances. Ever the musical traveler, Dock is also a member of "High Sierra Band", and the "Centre Streeters" Bluegrass band. Put it all together, and you have a can't-miss crowd-pleaser. Blackstone Run at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, Saturday, April 5, at 8:00 P.M.
