Little City Concerts presents Celine Mogielnicki

Soprano Celine Mogielnicki and pianist Tatiana Loisha perform SPEAK, a program for voice and piano inspired by voices connected to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our partner for this program will be SMYAL. SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders) supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the Washington, DC, metropolitan region. Through youth leadership, SMYAL creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to build self-confidence, develop critical life skills, and engage their peers and community through service and advocacy.

Program to include the premiere of Stephen Gorbos's Whitman Fragments, along with works by Marlene Dietrich, Aaron Copland, Julius Eastman, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

SOPRANO Celine Mogielnicki is a versatile emerging artist, hailed for her delicious (Opera Today) and finely balanced" (NY Times) singing, perfect in diction and phrasingwith powerful gradations of emotions (Millbrook Independent). In the 2022/2023 season she joins Opera Baltimore for Benjamin Brittens Turn of the Screw (Governess cover), the Long Island Choral Society as soprano soloist for Handels Messiah, and makes role debuts as Rosalinde in Johann Strauss Die Fledermaus, Contessa in Mozarts Le Nozze di Figaro with the Winter Harbor Music Festival as well as Adele in Die Fledermaus with the Bar Harbor Music Festival. Recent performances include Musetta in La Bohème and a Rodgers and Hammerstein Pops concert with Bar Harbor Music Festival, Solo recital of Sirens and Sailors: Songs of Love and the Sea at Surry Arts Barn, and concert performances with Schoodic Arts Festival and the Winter Harbor Music Festival.

A graduate of the Juilliard School and Dawn Upshaws graduate vocal arts program at Bard College, Ms. Mogielnicki has performed with LA Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Bard Summerscape, Caramoor, Juilliard Opera, Charlottesville Opera (formerly Ash Lawn Opera) and DC Public Opera in both standard and contemporary works. Roles include Mimì, Governess, Micaela, Pamina, Rosalinde, Marzelline, Musetta, and Woglinde. She is particularly devoted to 20th century works and collaborations with living composers, and has given world premieres of works by David T. Little (Sir Elton Johns Trainer in Vinkensport), Missy Mazzoli (Song from the Uproar), Noa Ain (Song of the Turtledove), Brian Hulse (Questa rosa novella) and Stephen Gorbos (Whitman Fragments). Oratorio and concert credits include Mozarts Requiem, Beethovens Ninth Symphony and Mass in C Major, Handels Messiah and the world premiere of Judd Greensteins Vayomer Schlomo in Zankel Hall.

She made her Carnegie Hall Debut in Vaughn Williams Serenade to Music under conductor Benjamin Zander and has appeared in concert with the National Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, National Music Festival, Southwest Florida Symphony, Friends of Mozart Society, Bel Canto at Caramoor, and the Transfiguration Choirs of New York City, Washington National Cathedral, Hudson Valley Chamber Music, the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society, 23Arts Initiative, Z1 Konzerte Berlin, Orania Berlin concert series, Winter Harbor Music Festival and Schoodic Arts in Downeast Maine. Recordings include Meyerbeers Les Huguenots (Leonard/Premiere Bohemienne) with the American Symphony Orchestra under Leon Botstein and Missy Mazzolis Song from the Uproar with NOW ensemble under New Amsterdam label. She is currently pursuing her DMA as a Dean's Fellow at the Peabody Institute, studying under Randall Scarlata.

Tatiana Loisha has more than 20 years of experience working as a piano accompanist with singers and instrumentalists.

In 2016-2019, Tatiana worked as a staff accompanist at Cleveland Institute of Music and Baldwin Wallace University, and as a rehearsal and performance pianist with Cleveland Opera Theater. Recent productions included Traviata, The Rake's Progress, The Barber of Seville, Madame Butterfly, The Threepenny Opera, The Marriage of Figaro, etc. She also worked as a pianist at Oberlin in Italy program (Arezzo, Italy) in the summer of 2018.

Since first moving to the D.C. area in 2014, Tatiana has been working as a pianist accompanist with the Potomac Vocal Institute and actively performed in the D.C. Metropolitan area accompanying singers and instrumentalists.

Tatiana Loisha studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Music, Minsk, Belarus, where she graduated with a BA in piano performance and a graduate degree in collaborative piano. Tatiana is a winner of the Shostakovitch competition (St. Petersburg, Russia, 2001), International Competition for Young Pianists (Brest, France, 2002), and also a winner of contests for singers and pianists duets in Vilnius, Lithuania, 2006; St. Petersburg, Russia, 2006; Kazan, Russia, 2007.

Tatiana collaborated with well-known vocalists, Yuri Gorodetski, Oksana Volkova, and Ilya Silchukov to name a few. The collaboration embraced preparing for and performing at international competitions, i.e. Queen Elisabeth Competition, Operalia, BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, and Montreal International Musical Competition.
