Making more hydrometric data open access - the Hydrology Data Explorer
The BHS are hosting a webinar titled "Making more hydrometric data open access - the Hydrology Data Explorer" given by the Environment Agency. Date: 23rd November at 12:30 - 13:30.
Detailed, long term observations of rainfall, river flow and level and groundwater are essential to the work of hydrologists. The Hydrology Data Explorer (HDE) tool hosted on the Defra Data Services Platform makes key hydrometric datasets throughout England from the Environment Agency open to external users. This webinar will outline the recent work undertaken to enhance the capabilities of the HDE to cover available daily and sub-daily rainfall, river flow, river level and groundwater records for open stations together with water quality data from both open and historic sites. This will make the service one of the biggest online hydrological archives in the world. The service enables external users to be able to access these hydrometric data as and when required. The features and typical applications of the Explorer and the datasets, including the updating involved, will be presented.
