Featured Performer NINA WISE IN "WHAT JUST HAPPENED"

California-based, award-winning performance artist Nina Wise creates an improvisational piece based on the personal and political events that transpired during the last 24 hours of her life. What Just Happened   played for weeks to sold-out audiences at The Marsh in San Francisco and Berkeley.  Audience members kept coming back week after week to keep up with the funny, moving, and continually surprising ongoing saga.

"Wise's innovative and spontaneous approach to telling her stories has earned her praise across the country. Her point blank eloquence is astonishing." Ashland Tribune

Opening Act: SECOND NATURE IN "SUDDENLY THE EVERYTHING"

Cassie Tunick, Heather Harpham and Danny Tunick are a New York-based improv trio of Action Theater performers and musicians who join forces n a wild, funny, moving musical/dance/ vocal improvisation that explores the present moment and reveals what you probably guessed: nothing happens for a reason.

The evening weaves movement and physicality with humor and insight into powerful narratives that make you laugh, cry and see your life in a new way.

THE ARTISTS

Nina Wise

Nina Wise has been described as a cross between Lily Tomlin, the Dalai Lama and Jules Feiffer. One minute you'll be falling off your seat laughing and the next you'll be moved to tears.

Nina Wise's performances have won seven Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Awards, three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and four from the Marin Arts Council. She has performed both scripted and improvised work around the world at venues including The Marsh, The Magic Theater, SF Museum of Modern Art, Highways (LA), Sao Paolo International Festival of Theater, and more. Her most recent work, "The Kepler Story" designed for planetarium domes played to over 2100 people at the California Academy of Sciences Morrison Planetarium. She has taught performance at JFK University, UC Santa Cruz and SF State University and been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California, Stanford University and the University of Wisconsin.

When she performed What Just Happened? based on her experiences in the previous 24 hours in San Francisco and Berkeley, she not only sold out each night, but audience members kept coming back week after week to keep up with the funny, moving, and continually surprising ongoing saga.

Critics love her:

No mere talking head, Wise possesses a supple physique, prodigious energy, and nerve with which to render the shapes and souls of things.  Lovingkindness abounds in her work. She makes art as fresh as the day's headlines.  Village Voice

Performance artists come and go and often disappear to no one's sorrow. But Nina Wise is something else again. She shapes theater pieces that are thoroughly grounded in theatrical design, rhythmic flow, intellectual commitment and emotional depth.       SF Chronicle
